John Evans is a smart songwriter, electric performer and an ace guitarist whose abilities run so far afield that even the “Americana” umbrella doesn’t quite capture what he does. He appears to be all over the place helping other musicians sound better, which in part explains why nearly six years have passed since he released “Polyester.” So, hopefully, some new tunes might find their way into the mix this week.
