山姆Baker’s albums are like little treasures — shells or sharks’ teeth — found on the beach: You don’t find a new one all that often. The Hill Country-based songwriter has put out five albums over the past 15 years, all of them richly realized and sung with an expressive yet conversational tone. Many tell the stories of folks and their struggles, themes Baker has come by honestly in his own life. The last set of new songs is 4 years old now, and though he put out a live recording in 2019, he likely has a clutch of new work forthcoming.
